Take in the splendor of St. John’s Harbour. Catch a glimpse of the cruise ships as they set sail to neighbouring islands. Savor the views of the sunken schooner Andes and the historic 18th Century Fort Barrington.

View the spectacular limestone rock formation carved by wind, rain and sea. Play hide and seek with the tide and crashing waves as you trek. Rehash childhood memories as you hop and skip over large boulders. Take in the view of Nelson’s Dockyard and Fort Berkley across the harbour.

MANGO (MEDIUM)

Although seasonal, the mango is a local favourite because of its juicy pulp. Obtaining this fruit requires a bit of effort and was therefore chosen as the name to represent our trails with medium difficulty. Hike it and like it!

Enjoy the breathtaking views of the island at various vantage points along the trail, and Falmouth Harbour from the summit. Marvel at yachts and sail boats during the Annual Sailing Week (April). Enjoy views of the neighbouring islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe on a clear day.

Walk across the short bridge to the base of the Fort. Marvel at the preservation of the dungeon-style rooms and powder magazine. Point out the wreckage of the sunken schooner Andes in Deep Bay.

Take in the picturesque view of Pigeon Point and Windward Beach. Bask in the presence of historic remains of the old Fort. Take in the breathtaking views of Galleon Beach, The Pillars of Hercules and back towards the Dockyard and English Harbour. Stroll along the marina area in front of the Copper and Lumber Store. Walk through Nelson’s Dockyard, the only continuously working Georgian Dockyard in the world.

TAMARIND (CHALLENGING)

The local tamarind is very sour but makes the tastiest drink! The name of this fruit was chosen to represent our challenging hikes but have no fear – the view is worth the climb.

Observe the orderly farming of the Antiguan Black Pineapple (our national fruit). Feel the burn as you trek upwards to our island’s highest peak. Enjoy the 360 degree views of our island paradise.

Journey to the center of our rainforest. Take a swing at the picnic area located at the base of the trail. Marvel at the 1,000,000 gallon man-made reservoir known as the Wallings Dam. Pose for a picture between the humongous buttress roots. Enjoy views of the Southern coast and neighbouring islands.

Stand atop Fort Charlotte with the Pillars of Hercules below you. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the south coast along with neighbouring islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe. Feel the burn as you trek upwards to Shirley Heights.

STINKING TOE (MOUNTAIN SLAYER!)

‘Stinking Toe’ refers to the large seed pod of the West Indian locust. Although foul smelling, it is edible and tastes really good. With a name like stinking toe, not many people gravitate to the mysterious fruit. As such, we have chosen this name to represent our toughest trails. Let’s slay this mountain!

The undisturbed shore of Rendezvous Bay is located on south coast of Antigua and is visible only to those who sail by. The trail to Rendezvous Bay will be light to moderate, but be sure to conserve your energy for the hike back to Wallings Dam which comprises of an array of inclines.
Marvel at the architecture of the Wallings Dam. Inhale the therapeutic aroma of Lemon (Fever) Grass. Gaze up at 1000ft elevations of 700 acres of rolling hills from the valley floor of the Sherkeley mountain range. Smile at the shades of blue on the horizon as the Caribbean Sea meets the sky. Swim at Rendezvous Bay.
